Sourdough bread is a naturally leavened bread, meaning it does not use yeast, baking powder, or any other rising agent. It produces it's own yeast with a fermentation of whole wheat flour and water. This fermentation process is what gives sourdough that tangy flavor that makes it irresistible. Each sourdough is formed into a boule, or round loaf. Available sliced, or whole. 1/4" slice is a thinner sandwich cut. 1/2" is closer to a texas toast cut.
